Seema also had a great year! She’s either working, involved in her non-profit work, or hanging with family & friends.
Like most moms, Seema is busy with family calendars, spreadsheets, grocery lists, lunch and dinner menus, and managing sitter schedules. She also is Orissa’s personal secretary, managing multiple play-dates and sleep-overs with the help of outlook calendars and texting.
This summer, Seema had a blast with her old classmates at her 5 year MIT Sloan reunion. Can you believe it has been 5 years!! She also managed to squeeze in a work trip to Madrid…bummer!
Also, this year, Seema completed a three year term as a board member for Teen Voices, a non-profit organization that supports and educates teen girls to amplify their voices and create social change through media.
This year, Seema served as co-chair for Teen Voices’ annual Amplify event in April 2011 where the Democratic National Committee's Vice Chair, Donna Brazile, delivered a memorable keynote speech. It was a fabulous, powerful standing room only event which lead to the highest amount raised in one night in the history of Teen Voices fundraisers.
Although she will not be renewing for another 3 year term, she will continue to serve this under-privileged group of teen girls as a critical member of the National Advisory Board.
In October, Seema was selected as one of the Boston Business Journal’s 40 under 40 for 2011! It is a nice acknowledgement of her contributions to the non-profit community her in Boston as well as her professional accomplishments.
Seema also started learning about blogging and social media through her new blog, techie biotech marketer . Through her self-exploration and self-learning, she hopes to change the way drugs are marketed to physicians and patients through the use of digital marketing and new media.
